As most people who travel into major airport hubs from international destinations, clearing US customs upon your return to the US can be time consuming and a pain. It is even more trying with kids in tow or if you are trying to make a connection. Making a connection was a concern coming back from a trip to Ireland until I discovered that I pre-cleared US Customs at Dublin Airport. When I got off the plane in Newark, I immediately headed to my connection to Atlanta and had plenty of time to get to the departure gate. Also US Customs Pre-clearance at International airports do have the Global Entry Kiosks for faster processing if necessary.
